The design of our cantilevered canopies eliminates the need for hanger supports and allows flexibility in multiple wall and building conditions. Canopies distinguish a building’s entry and façade with a clean, streamlined look, enhance the surrounding architecture and can help highlight signage and brand awareness.

And because our manufactured canopies are welded, not thru-fastened, field installation is simplified to ensure a top-quality product with a fast completion time.
How Cantilevered Canopies Work
Cantilevered canopies project outward from the building face without posts or columns touching the ground. The entire load is transferred back into the building structure through a wall-mounted connection system. This makes cantilevered systems the preferred choice for high-traffic entries, drive-through lanes, and locations where ground-level obstructions must be avoided.
SkyScape’s cantilevered systems are engineered to meet project-specific wind and snow load requirements per ASCE 7. Our in-house engineering team sizes structural members, designs the wall connection, and produces PE-stamped shop drawings for every project.
Cantilevered systems are available in flat, curved, and arched profiles, giving architects flexibility to match the building’s design language without changing the structural approach. Member sizing, projection depth, and connection details are all engineered to the specific project. No two cantilevered canopies are identical.

Engineering & Specification Support
Specifying a cantilevered canopy requires coordination between architectural intent and structural conditions. SkyScape’s team works directly with architects and general contractors from design phase through submittal. We provide wind and snow load calculations, anchor layout drawings, connection details by substrate type, and complete submittal packages including PE-stamped shop drawings where required.
Architects can use the SkyScape Spec Builder to generate specification language for cantilevered canopy systems under CSI MasterFormat Section 10 73 16. Submittal packages are available upon request.
Every SkyScape cantilevered canopy submittal includes shop drawings, engineering calculations, anchor layout drawings, and PE-stamped documents where required by the local jurisdiction. Our team responds to RFIs during the bid and construction phase and coordinates directly with the GC through installation.
